A powder coater is responsible for applying protective and decorative powder coatings to metal and other surfaces, primarily in manufacturing, automotive, and industrial environments. The role ensures products have a durable, high-quality finish that meets industry and client specifications
Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, blasting, and masking as necessary
Set up and operate powder coating equipment including spray guns, booths, and ovens
Apply powder coatings to parts and products according to specifications
Inspect coated items for quality, uniformity, and proper thickness
Touch up, rework, or strip coatings when necessary
Follow all safety procedures, including the proper handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness
Document work performed and report any issues or defects to supervisors
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in powder coating, 1-2 years
Familiarity with powder coating processes, materials, and equipment
Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Good physical stamina and the ability to lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 pounds]
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
